Well, today is Sunday. A bit of a letdown since we thought at one point that today would be the day to bring Audrey home. She continues to be stable--no backward progress, but no real forward progress either. At the 3:00 feeding, her nurse assured me that at some point she will just magically get it and start eating reliably and well and remember to breathe on her own all the time. I think she's just building us up for a big shock when she gets better!So the velcro spots on the side of her head... I know it looks weird. That's how they hold on her little sunglasses in the jaundice lights. Since her bilirubin is down, they have taken off her velcro now.

Friends of ours had their son at 29 weeks and he had apnea too. The whole eating and breathing thing is a lot to figure out! He would have a "blue episode" pretty much every time he ate, and then one day, poof! He got it. So your nurse is right. And that was his last milestone he had to pass to come home. Hang in there! I think there was one more time after that when he stopped breathing at home, but it was ok, and his mom knew just what to do from all of his time in the hospital. It's so hard to have to go to the hospital every day and being in this state of limbo. But people in MI are praying for you too!
I think those velcro strips are a GREAT idea! Do you think there is any marketablity for adult use sunglasses?
