Wendy's new venture.

So let me confess something. I'm a little scared of failure.
Perhaps more than a little.
I've always wanted a crafty business, and last year I hesitantly ventured into that. It was so much fun, and rather successful. But the craft shows were a lot of work at one time, and ideally I'd like to spread out the orders through the year.
And I'd like to have more exposure to customers.
There's not a ton of craft shows in Amarillo to go to.
So I wanted to expand, but I was uber-scared to give it a try!
And so I've started a blog just for my crafty stuff. It's http://sewinginthewendycity.blogspot.com/
Check it out -- you might just enjoy it! From time to time I'll be giving away stuff.
This week I'm giving away a baby quilt.
I'm trying to get some traffic through the blog because....
many of the things you see on there will link to my etsy store where you can purchase them. Yay! That link is http://twirlytutus.etsy.com/
Go check it out, and please please tell me what you think!

How to make 2 children and their mommy presentable in 59 easy steps

1. Wake up.
2. Lament how many times you were up in the night with the stupid apnea monitor on the baby.
3. Take shower.
4. Lament how long since last shower and how many times you have been puked on since last shower.

5. Mistakenly try to use conditioner in place of shampoo. Wonder what the hell happened to your shampoo.
6. Lament lack of sleep that caused you to be such a moron that you cannot find the shampoo.
7. Shave legs because you have no idea what you will be wearing to the Important Event that requires presentableness.

8. Get out of shower to tune of crying baby.
9. Put on clothes that are acceptable to be barfed upon and thus not the clothes you will be wearing to the Important Event.

10. Feed baby. Cheerfully greet 2-year-old who has woken for the day.

11. Attempt to hold crying baby and bounce while fixing breakfast for 2 year old.
12. Give up on #11. Call grandparent and invite to breakfast.
13. Change 2-year-old's diaper.
14. Greet grandparent, hand over baby, make coffee, fix breakfast.
15. Convince 2-year-old to eat breakfast.

16. Eat some breakfast yourself. After all, you're going to need your strength.
17. Make bows for 2-year-old's Very Special Outfit for Important Event.
18. Lament that you were too lazy to make them the night/week before.
19. Lament grandparent leaving.
20. Since 2-year-old for no apparent reason really wants to clean the front door, hand her a bottle of windex and a paper towel.

21. Pray windex is not toxic.
22. Get barfed on by baby. Change every single piece of clothing you and she are wearing. Again, into something that is ok to be barfed on.

23. Lament the use of an entire bottle of windex on the front door.
24. Sniff 2-year-old to see if aroma of windex is painfully obvious.
25. Feed baby.
26. Dry hair while singing the Alphabet song loudly with toddler.
27. Get barfed on again.
28. Change into clothes that {mostly} fit for Important Event.
29. Put on giant old shirt over clothes in case of more barf.

30. Convince 2-year-old to get dressed and allow her hair to be fixed.
31. Go to put contacts in.
32. Discover that last night you may have put them in the wrong sides and definitely forgot contact solution.
33. Locate new lenses.
34. Go comfort baby who has now awoken from 20 minute nap.

35. Attempt to go put on makeup.
31. Discover mid-makeup that 2-year-old has pulled her bows out and destroyed her hairdo in her gallant attempts to put a Mardi Gras necklace over her head in an attempt to be fancy for Important Event.

36. Take several deep breaths.
37. Redo hair. Replace bows. Put necklace on High Shelf.
38. Take toddler to bathroom to do makeup so she does not climb High Shelf to get necklace back.
39. Go comfort baby who is not pleased.

40. Dress baby in Very Cute Outfit. Remind self to remove giant barf-preventing T-shirt before Important Event.
41. Pack diaper bag, including Mostly Cute Outfits for everyone in case of barf or poop.
42. Load baby into car seat.
43. Put baby, car seat, purse, diaper bag, and toddler in car. Remind self to remove giant barf-preventing T-shirt before Important Event.

44. Locate car keys.
45. Run back into house for camera.
46. Repeat for cell phone.
47. Return to house with toddler to change poopy diaper.
48. Attempt to be cheerful.
49. Return to house to throw giant T-shirt back inside.

50. Question sanity.
51. Take deep breaths.
52. Wonder if you put mascara on both eyes.
53. Lament the things you didn't get into the car with.
54. Drive while singing various children's songs and instructing toddler to leave her baby sister alone.
55. Hope baby stops screaming before arriving at Important Event.
56. Put on lipstick.
57. Try to look cool. Hope this covers the lingering aroma of windex and barf.
58. Question whether or not you are currently wearing deodorant.
59. Arrive and try to make looking fabulous utterly effortless.

10 things on a Tuesday.

1. Daisy has returned to her prior life of crime. She used to drag anything she could out the dog door anytime we left the house.
2. She stopped this for a while.... and today when we got home, she had dragged the baby bjorn out the dog door. Not sure how.
3. It's quite large. She must have worked on it the whole time we were gone.
4. Maybe she's Swedish.
5. Audrey still has no hiney.
6. And she has a furry little back.
7. I hope these resolve by the time she's 18, or she's going to curse her gene pool.
8. Genny chose not to nap at rest time today. Instead, she sat in her bed, played with her animals and yelled "ROARRRRRR!" for an hour.
9. I wish I had a box of cookies.
10. Genny decided the bassinet on the top of the pack-n-play was a good place to park herself and her babies....

The Tag

You are seeing the ultimate act of selflessness in a 2-year-old's world. It's truly amazing. So let me interpret the picture so you can also be amazed.

Genny is "holding" Baby Audrey. She went and got her beloved green blankie for Audrey to share. Gen LOVES her green blankie. And her favorite part of her blankie is the tag. She's obsessed with the tag. Every nap/nightime we have to tuck her in with the blanket positioned specifically so she is holding the tag.
So back to the picture..... Genny is giving Audrey her blankie tag.
Sweet, huh?

Mommy's nail salon

Somedays you just have Mommy moments. When it just hits you all of the sudden how special your little ones are.
So yesterday Genny asked me if I could paint her fingernails and her toenails pink and white. Sure. Glad to do it. So I'm scrunched on the floor trying to maneuver 2 colors of nail polish onto her teeny toes and as I'm holding her grubby little hands still to paint them. And she was oh so excited. Really over the moon about it. And it just really hit me what a cool little girl I have! Love you baby!

8 Sort of Funny things on a Monday...

1. I told Genny that Audrey was sad and asked her to help me cheer her up. So she went and got her pom-poms to "cheer" her up....
2. Genny told me to be extra careful with my pretend tea and to not spill it and to use 2 hands to hold it.
2 1/2. It was strawberry-blueberry-potatochip tea.
3. Audrey has no hiney. None.
4. Audrey has already learned to pull on Daisy dog's hair. That one isn't so funny to Daisy.
5. When I finish fixing her hair, Genny asks me "it's going to be bootiful, idn't it?"
6. Genny has learned the phrase, "Don't get me started!"
7. We have reached the rapid-fire "why" stage. At lunch today I told Genny she had run out of "why"'s until after naptime. She responded with "why, mommy?"
8. Here's how Genny counts to 15: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 11, 11, 11.

Gymnastics!

It's a big day...

We're all fixed up. All of us. And we're clean. And there's no spitup on any of us. Or other weird stains. (Clearly it's early in the day.) I'm pretty sure this is the first time this has happened since Audrey has been home. Heck, it's only been 6 weeks...
