The girls this week.

Here's Genny "holding" Audrey. You can tell she's really excited!
And here's Genny helping Robert in the yard. We've had a sprinkler disaster recently, and I'm thankful that my multi-talented husband could fix it. I'm also very thankful that he asks Genny to help him!

Before and After

Here's the "before" shot--my friend Careese and I, quite pregnant. This was the end of February. We had due dates 4 days apart! Feel free to tell us how fabulous we looked!
And here's the "after"......
Audrey Kate and Levi David in their first (of many) photo shoots! Aren't they wonderful!

Doctor Genny, part deux

Genny got out her doctor kit and announced that she was Doctor Genny and I was Doctor Mommy, and Audrey was Nurse Baby Audrey Kate. And so we attempted to heal the many owies of her babies.... and animals.... and Daisy. Daisy apparently had 5 owies. She had her heart and eyes checked, was administered medicine, but was ultimately healed by the blood pressure cuff Genny put around her hind leg.

And my favorite quote of the day:
"Doctor Mommy! Nurse Baby Audrey Kate is crying!"

Conversations with Age 2

For quite a while, Genny has given "Because I do/did" as an explanation for many things she does. For example, "Why did you throw your cup on the floor?" "Because I did." This can be infuriating, and up until this point I didn't believe it was a reasonable explanation for anything.

Up until this point, that is.

We've reached the stage of many, many questions starting with "Why?" that we seek to answer well. It's just that sometimes there aren't good answers. Here's a lovely example from this morning:

G: Why are we changing my diaper?
W: Because you're poopy.
G: Why am I poopy?
W: Because you pooped in your diaper.
G: Why did I poop in my diaper?
W: Because people poop. Next time you can poop on the potty.
G: Why do people poop?
W: Becuase they do.

An update

Audrey's monitor has not gone off in 24 hours (and counting). That's the first time in her little life that has happened! I'm so pleased and encouraged that we are moving in the right direction, and maybe soon it won't go off at all!

UPDATE TO THE update: 36 hours and counting!

sharing...

Genny wanted to share with Audrey today. So she brought her a few things for her nap:
her treasured green blankie, with the tag. {Gen is obsessed with the tag....}
Her baby, and baby's flamingo blankie
2 ducks
her Easter bunny
her stuffed tiger
and her unicorn ("my ooo-icorn!")

Audrey has a sweet big sister!

goat/camel

Today Genevieve developed a new, very effective way to get under my skin. She pulled out her stuffed camel and carried it around for hours--feeding it, holding it, giving it a blankie, putting it the bouncy seat and swing--all while talking to it and me about it, and all the time calling it a goat. I reminded her it was a camel. I corrected her a few times and then (via a devious little girl smirk) realized she was doing it on purpose...
