Jump and Jive

Today we went to Jump 'n' Jive, which was really fun.
I didn't really know what to expect since the girls hadn't been there in a long time.
here's something I'd like to call the Audrey cam:
Genny loved it too.  She was very brave and did the slides all by herself.  I am proud of how independent she has become!

First Canyon run of 2011

Today we took the girls to Palo Duro Canyon to go on a hike.
Us at the trailhead.  We opted to take them on a more challenging trail since we thought Genny would enjoy it more and be more encouraged to keep trying.
My enthusiastic hikers!

Audrey ready to roll out...

Last year, walking over this bridge was a challenge for Genny.  This year she nailed it without any problem!

And even Audrey walked across.
Drink break

Genny standing on a rock yelling, "I'm brave!"

We hiked up a rocky patch to get up to a rock formation so Genny would feel like she had climbed up a mountain.  It was a tough trek and she did really well.

We found a couple of lizards along the way.
All in all, we made it 1.3 miles down the train and back for a total of 2.6 miles.  Genny did it all by herself and Audrey rode mostly on our backs but walked a good portion of the end once she got comfortable with what we were doing.  It was a fun day.

If you want to compare the picures from last year, that post is here....

Audrey tells you about swimming.

If you are not used to listening to Audrey, you may need a translator on this one.... someone fluent in Audreyisms, of course!

Genny's end of year

to commemorate her end-of-the-school-year, I asked Genny a few questions......

What do you want to be when you grow up?
A mama

What is your favorite color?
Purple pink red and yellow and green

What do you like to cook?
macaroni

What would you do with $100 dollars?
I would buy a bank because one of my banks broke a long time ago

What is one new thing you would like to try this year?
Show mama how I can start myself on the swing

What was the most fun thing you did at school this year?
Eat our snack out of our room the day we pretended to go camping in the woods

What is your favorite food?
Spaghetti with mushrooms

What is your favorite toy?
My butterfly that can be a caterpillar too

What is your favorite thing to do?
Play outside and run outside and swing and go to school

What do you think you will learn next year in school?
Maybe about animals

What is something you’d like to do this summer?
Go swimming at the swimming pool

Tell me about your teacher this year.
Her name is Mrs. Scarberry.  She always has different shirts on at school.  She’s nice.  She’s 33.  She asks me questions.

How old is Mommy?
33

How old is Daddy?
33

What is Daddy’s job?
Work on his car

What is Mommy’s job?
Work for school

What does Mommy like to do when you’re not around?
Go to the store with Audrey.

What is Audrey’s favorite thing to do?
Play

So there you go.  That's the world according to Genny, as she finishes up her 3-year-old preschool.  For the record, her teacher is a grandmother, and mommy is no longer 33.  And Daddy's an engineer. And I'm pretty sure she's never cooked macaroni.

It's (almost) swim time!

First I have a shoutout to my Uncle Sam who likes to read my blog and wishes I'd post more often.  Thanks for reading.  And also to my Daddy who learned how to comment so that I'd know someone was actually reading what I post.
So tonight the girls had a birthday party to go to, and they had fun water toys.  As soon as we pulled up and saw the big slide, Audrey screamed, "Mommy, clothes OFF!"

Genny was brave and tried it out.
And then she danced a little bit!
Audrey was quite cautious about actually getting in the water.
My sweet Genny.

Finally Audrey got in.  And did this, which I thought was hilarious.

Mother's Day Tea

At Genny's school, the kids put on a Mother's Day Tea.  It's wonderful.

And they sang too.  Enjoy.

My ballerina

Genny is a ballerina.

A serious one.  She worked really hard this year!
She can tell you the names of her moves and everything.
and her recital was this past weekend.   It was wonderful!

She and her friends did such a good job, and we were very proud!
